Do you carry only children’s clothing?

No, we sell toys, children and baby furniture, baby equipment (such as strollers, carseats, bouncy seats, high chairs, port-a-cribs.) We will also carry books, videos, DVDs and high quality toys. We also will sell maternity and boys sizes up to size 20 and junior sizes up to size 16.

What percentage does a consignment sale give to its consignor’s?

We will be giving up to 70% in comparison to the 40-50% that most consignment shops give. We want each family to get the most out of the investment that they made in their children’s clothing, toys, etc.

Why do you guarantee each item?

We value the business that each consignor gives to us. By using the state-of-the art bar-coding system that is designed specifically to help consignment sales we are able to guarantee each item. This means that if (by chance and unfortunately) an item is lost or stolen we will pay her the 70% she would have earned just as if the item did sell. We want our consignors to be able to TRUST us with each item they bring to us. We feel that the high-quality items that we would like to feature in our sale benefits a guarantee from us to treat it as if it were our own.

Why is this better than just putting on a garage sale of my own?

We do most of the work for you! You prepare your items by making sure they are clean, neat, free of odors and hanging them. You bring them to the store, and we do the rest. We do all of the advertising, organizing the event with our staff of volunteers and workers. You can shop early as a consignor and just show up at the end to pick up what did not sell and your check for what did sell.

What is the big deal about EXCELLENT QUALITY?

Who wants to sort through messy clothing that has stains, holes, or missing buttons? No one wants to waste their time going through worn clothes to find a good deal. We feel that everything in our sale is a good deal. We don’t want to host a “garage sale”. We want this to be a pleasant experience for everyone.

What control do I have over my items if I am a consignor?

• You select the price of each item.
• You can choose whether an item may sell at ½ price on the last day or if you want to donate it at the end of the sale.
• You can track the sale of each item on our website.
• You know that you will lose the item. If you check in under the guarantee guidelines, you will receive payment for it.
  

What are the benefits of being a Consignor with Katie’s Klothesline?

• Your unsold items are pre-sorted and together for you when you pick them up. You aren’t required to hunt for all unsold items on racks through the store.

What are my Consignor Options regarding printing barcode labels to stick onto my tags?

Option 1 – Let us print them for you free of charge. You’ll pick them up and label your items at the store on one of the Drop Off Days. (This is the most popular.)

Option 2 – Let us print them for you free of charge. You’ll pick them up and label your items at home. Then bring your already labeled items on Drop Off Days. You will need to sign a Release of Guarantee Form.

Option 3 – Print your barcode labels at home using a COLOR PRINTER (very important!!). Follow the directions CAREFULLY that appear after you enter your items. Label your items at home. Bring your labeled items on Drop Off Days. You will need to sign a Release of Guarantee form.

If I am a consignor in Katie’s Klothesline do I have to work the sale?

No, you can just drop off your clothes on Drop-Off day and come shop at your designated Consignment Shopper time.

Can I bring children to the Pre-Sale?

We strongly suggest NOT to bring your children to the Pre-Sale, to volunteer or to drop off day. These events will be busy, and the children will be tempted to play with the toys. You will be more relaxed if you do not bring your children. You may bring them on the regular shopping days.

Can I use wire hangers?

Please use plastic hangers. Use children’s hangers for clothes sized 8 and below. Use larger hangers for larger clothes.

How do I secure small pieces that go with Toys or Equipment?

Please place them in a Ziploc bag and then seal the Ziploc with clear packing tape. This is important as we do not want any lost pieces. If that happens, the item will not sell, and the buyer will not be happy.

When I price items in a Ziploc bag, how do I attach the price tag?

Make sure that you stick your bar code on the string tag just like you would clothing. Then, attach the tag securely to the item and place both the item and the tag inside the Ziploc bag. Make sure that the tag is visible so that the bag does not have to be opened. This could result in a lost tag, and then the item will not sell.

What if my item is not worth your minimum price of $2.50?

If it still meets the “excellent quality” standards, then group it together with like items that also meet the standard. Pin them together on a hanger or in a Ziploc bag and decide on one price for the entire group.

Should I iron my clothes?

Yes, appearance is everything. Do you want to buy something that does not look good? The better you can make them look, the more eye appealing they will be to the buyer.

Can I enter additional batches?

Yes. You will have a cut off time and date that is still to be determined. If you have entered several items and finished out the batch, and you come back to the computer to enter more items, you may do so. You will still use the same consignor number, but just have a different batch number. This is no problem!!!

Will you be featuring local business?

Yes, if there are family friendly businesses out there that would like to purchase a “spot” to put up a booth within our location, we would love to have you as long as there is space. Please refer to our sponsor’s page to find out more details.
